MELBOURNE, Australia — Sebastian Korda reached the primary Grand Slam quarterfinal of his profession by beating Tenth-seeded Hubert Hurkacz in a fifth-set tiebreaker on the Australian Open on Sunday.
Korda’s 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (10-7) victory over Hurkacz adopted up a third-round win towards 2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev, who had reached the ultimate at Melbourne Park every of the previous two years.
Korda is a 22-year-old American whose father, Petr, gained the 1998 championship on the event. Korda’s mom was an expert tennis participant, too, and his two older sisters play professional golf.
