After a horrendous tackle on Kenny Tete at Craven Cottage, Joao Felix was sent off for his Chelsea debut.
The Blues signed the Portuguese star on loan on Wednesday. He was immediately thrown into the starting XI for their short trip to Craven Cottage, where they will take on Fulham in the Premier League.
Felix had undoubtedly impressed in his maiden Chelsea game. His trick, flicks, clever movement received plaudits from both pundits, as well as football fans via Twitter.
Then it all crashed down.
Felix leapt into a challenge in the 58th minutes, as the ball bounced into the path Kenny Tete’s direction. He sliced down the Fulham back-back with his studs.
After some reflection and perhaps some discussion with VAR representatives, the on loan forward was finally given a straight red.
Felix will now be expelled from Chelsea for at least one match. However, if the Premier League deems the foul to have been serious enough, it could be extended to three games.
